True North Stables is a full-service hunter/jumper training and sales program, dedicated to horsemanship and to providing top-class riding, training, and sales services to both horse and rider.
Led by Caitlyn Shiels and with bases in Ocala Florida and Lexington, Kentucky, True North Stables offers highly-individualized instruction, horse acquisition and sales assistance, and the opportunity to excel in the sport.

I moved to Chicago for graduate school and was fortunate enough to connect with Caitlyn Shiels. I had been riding inconsistently, and I wanted to stay in the saddle while in school. I came to True North with a lot of anxiety and fear after my many bad experiences elsewhere. In the two years I rode with Caitlyn, she transformed my riding. She built my confidence up from zero and got me comfortably jumping and around technical courses again! She gave me the mental tools to effectively handle challenging questions on course without panicking. She never rushed me but always pushed me to continue to improve. Most importantly, she was always supportive, constructive, and kind. Caitlyn’s approach is masterful. She knows exactly how to get the most out of every rider and horse in her program. It was because of Caitlyn’s re-building of my foundation that I am where I am today, back in the show ring competing in the Adult Hunters in California. Even living on the opposite coast from her now, I often remind myself of the things I learned from Caitlyn, I owe so much of my confidence to her and wouldn’t trade my time at True North for anything.
